We only perform surgeries in our hubs. These are our larger clinics which are kitted out with state of the art surgical theatres. You can find your nearest hub listed on your local clinic’s location page.
Pets who have had surgery are typically discharged and return home on the same day as their surgery. If your pet requires overnight care, you’ll need to arrange transport from our clinic to an out-of-hours clinic. We can put you in touch with our trusted, local out of hours provider and our team will give you all the information you need to make this as smooth as possible.
You're very welcome to stay with your pet as we check them over, administer the sedatives and prepare them for anaesthesia; and also to be there as they recover and wake up aftwards. Of course if you'd rather not stay that's completely fine. and your pet is held with the same care regardless. The procedures themselves are carried out in sterile operating theatres or in diagnostic areas where it is not possible to accompany your pet. Our prep areas are fully visible from most of our consult rooms, so you can see our team at work.
In most cases, yes. Your presence often helps your pet feel more relaxed as they settle and fall asleep. Occasionally, if your pet becomes very stressed or has an unexpected reaction to the anaesthetic, we may gently ask you to step out of the room for their safety.
There's no right or wrong choice here. If at any point you'd prefer to step away, just let us know. You're always free to leave the room, and our team will take it from there. Some people stay for everything; others prefer a hug at the door. Both are completely normal.
Yes. Once your pet is safely through their procedure and beginning to come round, we'll bring you back to be with them as they recover, so a familiar voice and a familiar touch are some of the first things they sense.
That's absolutely okay. You can hand your pet to us with complete peace of mind and wait nearby, or head home and we'll keep you updated. Choosing not to stay doesn't change anything about the care your pet receives.
We've rethought every step to keep your pet calm and cared for. From a gentler approach to settling them, to welcoming you to stay by their side as they fall asleep and wake up. You can talk it all through with our clinical team in minutes to understand more.
Your pet is cared for by our clinical team and monitored continuously from the moment they fall asleep until they're safely awake. They're never left alone.
Our procedures vary in length depending on what we need to do, in most cases your pet will need to be with us for 3-6 hours. You are welcome to collect them later than this if it is easier for you, just organise this on the day.
We tailor the anaesthetic to each pet following a pre-surgery health check. During this check, we'll guide you through the procedure and make you aware of any risks associated with the anaesthetic and the procedure itself.
You are welcome to bring a familiar blanket or toy if you wish, and if your pet requires any regular medication while being with us or is on a special diet please bring a portion of this along as well.
We'll keep you updated once the procedure is completed, and our team is reachable on WhatsApp if you have any questions or need reassurance while you wait. We can also share videos of your pet for you while they're recovering until they're ready to come home.
