A calm check up with a friendly vet

Our veterinary team offers a comprehensive range of services to support your pet’s health at every stage of life. Routine health checks offer you peace of mind and help us to identify any potential issues early on in cats and dogs.

How we can help

Ears

We examine the ears for signs of infection, wax build-up, or ear mites, all of which can cause discomfort or irritation in cats and dogs.

Eyes

We check for cloudiness, redness, or discharge that could indicate irritation, infection, or early signs of eye disease in cats and dogs.

Teeth and gums

We assess for tartar build-up, gum disease, or other dental issues that might lead to pain or bad breath.

Coat and skin

A healthy coat and skin are key indicators of overall health in cats and dogs. We look for dryness, excessive shedding, parasites (like fleas), lumps, or rashes.

Heart and lungs

Using a stethoscope, we listen to your pet’s heart and lungs to detect any unusual sounds, rhythms, or breathing patterns.

Abdomen

A gentle palpation of the abdominal area helps us check for signs of pain, swelling, or abnormalities in the internal organs of cats and dogs.

Weight

We monitor your pet’s weight to help identify issues such as obesity, sudden weight loss, or other underlying health concerns.

Questions you might have

Can I come in on the same day if I am worried about my pet?

Yes. We offer same-day appointments across all our clinics, and our clinics are open 7 days a week. If you would like some guidance before booking, you can also message us on WhatsApp for free advice from our clinical team.

What happens if my vet finds something during the check?

If we spot anything concerning, we’ll explain it clearly and talk you through the next steps. This may include further tests, such as blood work or imaging, to help us understand what’s going on. We’ll always share cost estimates upfront and discuss treatment options to suit your budget.

What signs should I look out for between visits?

Keep an eye out for changes such as reduced mobility or stiff joints, changes in appetite or water intake, loss of vision, or faster breathing while your pet is resting or asleep. If you notice anything new or unusual, please get in touch. You can also reach us on WhatsApp for free advice from our clinical team.

How often should my pet have a routine health check?

We recommend a routine check at least once a year for healthy adult pets, and more often for puppies, kittens, seniors, or pets with ongoing health conditions. Your vet can suggest a schedule that suits your pet.

My pet seems perfectly healthy. Do they still need a routine check?

Yes. Routine health checks are one of the best ways to spot potential issues early, often before symptoms appear. Many conditions develop gradually and can be difficult to notice at home. Regular check-ups and simple preventative care can make a big difference to your pet’s long-term health and quality of life.

What does a routine health check cover?

We carry out a thorough nose-to-tail examination, checking your pet’s ears, eyes, teeth and gums, coat and skin, heart and lungs, abdomen, and weight. This helps us spot early signs of problems such as dental disease, eye issues, unusual heart or lung sounds, lumps, or changes in the skin.

What happens if the vet finds something during a routine health check?

If the vet notices anything out of the ordinary, they’ll explain what they’ve found and talk you through the options. This might mean keeping an eye on things for now, starting treatment (such as medication or surgery), or doing some further tests to understand more. Whatever the next step is, we’ll make sure you feel informed and supported throughout.

Does my pet need a yearly health check?

Your pet will receive a thorough health check during their annual booster appointment, so an extra visit isn’t always necessary. That said, if you have any concerns or if your pet is getting older, it can be helpful to check in more regularly. Just let us know, and we can talk through what’s best for them.

Can my pet be vaccinated during their health check?

Yes, they can. As long as the vet is happy with your pet’s overall health and they’re due for their vaccinations, we’re able to give them during the same appointment. It’s a simple way to take care of everything at once.
