Our Bushey clinic was purpose-built by vets to keep anxious dogs calm, so a trip to the vet doesn't have to be a stressful outing.

And if your dog ever needs a procedure, you're welcome to stay with them — including as they drift off to sleep and when they wake up. We call these owner-present inductions.

“I was also won over how they allow you to be with your pet before surgery when they administer the anesthetic and then be there with them when they wake up.”

No worries whatsoever

I brought my senior cat Bubby to Hello Vet for dental treatment. The care she received from start to finish was truly amazing. The vet and nurses explained everything that the procedure involved. This put my mind at ease and had no worries whatsoever at leaving Bubby in their care.

Calming care for an anxious cat

We took our very anxious cat to Hello Vet for the first time today for his annual vaccination. At his previous vets, he wouldn’t let them examine him or vaccinate him without being put in a cage as he would become aggressive. The vet that he saw today was so professional. To our surprise, she examined him completely without him becoming aggressive.

Lovely experience

We recently got a new kitten, after a lovely experience when she had her vaccinations (we had Dr Julia) we chose to come back to have her spayed, i was very nervous as a new kitten owner but the nurses were amazing they answered all my questions on WhatsApp and made me feel very relaxed, they even offered me to stay while my kitten was sedated for her surgery!

RH

No issue too small

I've brought my kitten here for exams, vaccinations, spay procedure, travel documents etc.— easily the best vet experience I've ever had. The staff are very kind and responsive to any issue you may have, no matter how small.

Anxious kitten’s first vet trip

Great first vet trip for Manny. The receptionist was lovely and Dr Olivia was very thorough with her consultation. She was also incredibly caring and comforting, something necessary for my anxious kitten.

Immediately impressed

The opening of Hello Vet near our home couldn't have come at a better time, as my husband and I had just adopted a male kitten. We brought him there for his initial vaccinations and check-ups, and I was immediately impressed by the excellent service.

Practical and compassionate care throughout my cat’s chronic condition. Particularly like ease of accessibility and advice via the WhatsApp communication system.

HR

Straightforward procedures

Professional and attentive staff, straightforward procedures and a commitment to make the animals feel as safe and happy as possible. Our cat loved her visit, and we are very impressed.

Comfortable cat

Suki our 13 year old cat was as comfortable as she could be and was allowed to have a sniff around the consultation room. Our vet was very cat conscious and also the politeness of the reception staff was great too.

Reassured before the procedure

They clearly cared for my cat so well when she got spayed. They kept in contact with me via WhatsApp to check in post-op, and even answered questions to some of my worries to help put me at ease before the appointment. Plus they sent me a photo update of my cat once she had got settled ☺️

We felt very welcomed

We are so happy to have chosen Hello Vet for our cat's neutering. We felt very welcomed — all the staff were very friendly and kind. We only got the amount of medication we needed so we weren't over charged. Very pleased with the service. Thank you for making me feel you cared about my cat.

Set the bar high for other vets

We recently got two kittens spayed at HelloVet. One of the kittens experienced complications from an after-op infection, so we were in several times over a few weeks. The service we received was outstanding. Every vet we met was attentive, compassionate and seemed very knowledgeable. They have set the bar high for other vets.

Checked in via WhatsApp

I explained via WhatsApp that our kitten had eaten a rubber band, and even before we got there they were already in contact and helpful… The next day they contacted me again to check how the kitten was doing.

Stay with your pet during procedures

You are the best comfort for your pet. Hello Vet is the first clinic in the UK designed to keep you and your pet together when they need a procedure. If you wish, you can be present when we prepare them for anaesthesia, allowing you to reassure them as they fall asleep, and be there with them as soon as they wake up.

Accredited care you can trust

We hold Silver Cat Friendly Clinic status from ISFM, recognising clinics designed and run around how cats actually behave, alongside Dog Friendly Clinic accreditation awarded under the scheme run by Dogs Trust and the British Veterinary Behaviour Association. Every practice is RCVS accredited.

Questions dog owners ask us

Can I get a same-day appointment for my cat?

Usually, yes. We hold same-day appointments at Bushey and run extended weekday and weekend hours so you can avoid out-of-hours fees. The fastest route is to message us on WhatsApp. Our clinical team replies within minutes, and if your cat needs to be seen we will book them in and already have the background before you arrive.

How much does a cat vet appointment cost?

A vet consultation for a cat is a flat £65 at Hello Vet Bushey. That fee covers the full examination. Anything beyond it, such as tests, medication or treatment, is quoted to you as a written estimate before we go ahead. Our full price list is published on the website, and WhatsApp advice from our clinical team is free.

How often should my cat have a health check?

Once a year suits most healthy adult cats, usually alongside their booster. Kittens need a course of visits in their first few months. From around seven years we would rather see them twice a year, because cats are very good at hiding illness, and the things that creep up on them are far easier to catch at six-month intervals than twelve: weight loss, dental disease, kidney changes, an overactive thyroid, high blood pressure.

What vaccinations does my cat need, and how often?

The core UK vaccinations protect against cat flu, caused by feline herpesvirus and calicivirus, and feline panleukopenia, also called feline infectious enteritis. Feline leukaemia virus is added for cats who go outside or live with other cats, and can sometimes be left out for a cat who genuinely never leaves the house. Kittens need two injections three to four weeks apart, commonly at around nine and twelve weeks, then a booster at about a year old. After that your cat needs an annual appointment, though not every component is given every year. Rabies is only needed for travel abroad, and most catteries will ask to see an up-to-date vaccination record.

When should I neuter my cat?

Most cats are neutered while they are still young, before they can start roaming, spraying or having litters. The right timing still depends on your individual cat, whether they go outside and whether there are other cats in the house, so book a consultation or message us on WhatsApp and we will talk it through. You will get a written cost estimate before you commit either way.

My cat gets uncomfortable at the vets. What do you do differently?

Our clinics holds Silver Cat Friendly Clinic status from ISFM, which means the building is designed with cats in mind. There is a separate waiting area away from dogs, a quiet room for anxious pets, and calming pheromones in the consult rooms. We can book you a quieter time of day, allow a longer appointment so nothing is rushed. We are also the first practice in the UK to let you stay with your cat while they are sedated and as they come round.

Is my cat legally required to be microchipped?

Yes, if you are in England. Since 10 June 2024, under the Microchipping of Cats and Dogs (England) Regulations 2023, pet cats must be microchipped before they reach twenty weeks old and registered on a compliant database, with your contact details kept up to date. Indoor-only cats are included; genuinely unowned cats such as feral and community cats are not. We can chip your cat, scan an existing chip to check it still reads, and help you update your registered details if you have moved.

How do I move my cat to Hello Vet from another practice?

Register online in a couple of minutes, and tell us who your previous vet was. With your permission we request your cat's clinical history directly from them, so you do not have to chase anything. Registration is free and there is no joining fee. Bring your vaccination record and any current medication to the first appointment if you have them, but do not delay booking if you cannot find them.

What should I do if my cat needs a vet in the middle of the night?

Hello Vet is not a 24-hour hospital. Our extended weekday and weekend hours mean most things can be seen in normal hours at normal prices. If your cat needs urgent help when we are closed, please call us and we will redirect you to our out-of-hours care provider.
